New Album Release; My House

28/2/2025 - New Album Release; My House

Something a bit different from what I usually make, and to go with my interactive house I made using Construct 3. I call them mini foundscapes, a cross between found sounds and soundscapes, which I used free royalty-free samples from Pixabay.com, my go-to place to find royalty-free FXs for multiple uses. For the interactive piece I did called Our House, from the well-known song by Madness also called Our House, I selected pictures of well-designed rooms and took bits from the pictures and made it interactive. It’s not just audio but videos as well, and other stuff I put together to make up the interactive room. You can check that out by the button below, which will take you to my other website, randomgas.com.  There is some music on this album too, and something a bit light and less thumping without the drums and synthy stuff or should I say no hard drums. I enjoyed making the Foundscapes and putting the interactive piece together, and it took over a week to make, as I didn’t know what I was making and did one piece at a time. I had to draw around the object in the photo and save that object as a transparent background, plus making it so you know what to select by using highlighters to highlight the object. Most of the sounds were one shots, apart from the long clips, which I used as a base for the clip and the melody pieces, which I cut up and used FXs on to make it sound a little different to what it was, and all comes from Pixabay.com. Making the soundbites for the interactive piece was all experimenting with pitch and FXs, which I used a lot of FXs on the soundbites from Reverb, Delay, Filters and Compressors. As I said, it’s not all Foundscapes and there are some songs on there too, with songs like Panter Banter, Play Thing, Recreation and Safe Guard. Panter Banter is my favourite on the album, but I quite like Heigh Ho, My Pretty Flowerbed and The Lazy Fairy too. I mostly fitted the tracks with what was in the picture and worked around that as something to get me started, and are all the rooms you would find in a house, with some bonus rooms to wrap it up with.

New Album Release; Synthscape; Alas No Victory

15/1/2025 - New Album Release; Synthscape; Alas No Victory

More Synthscapes and this one is number 5 and my fifth one I made so far. For those who don’t know what a Synthscape is, it’s like a Soundscape but with synths and noise which I used Audacity to chew up a mix and use that as background noise and goes on throughout the hour-long album. There are multiple versions including a Soundcloud version and a YouTube version which are an hour long with no stops in between tracks it would have been an hour-long audio and not cut up into pieces but they only allowed a certain time limit and file size to upload but it doesn’t matter it’s probably better anyway. As always I used the kitchen sink which means synth plugins from Arturia’s V collection, my own plugins I made and also stuff from Omnisphere and other synthesizer plugins like The Korg Collection. As for drums I used my own collection of drums from Mars which if you don’t know by now is a collection of all the most used drum kits of its time including Roland 808, 909, 606, Lindrum and more but I used a lot of the Roland drum kits for the drums like for the kicks, hats, snares, claps and percussions. It’s always good to go off and do something else so this is my other kind of music that I make but only now and then as it takes a lot of energy and patience by forty five mintiues in timestamp on the mix and I’m done but I keep on going getting it done as I hate to leave unfinished stuff I probably on’t even go back to it so this is why I finish everything I start or do something else.

New Album Release; Festive Word Searches

19/12/2024 - New Album Release; Festive Word Searches

More Christmas festive music with the game music from my game I made also called Festive Word Searches and can be found on this website. I used Omnisphere and the V Collection by Arturia for the synths and basses and the Mars collection for the drums which span from Roland 808, Roland 606 and the Lindrum. There are four-word searches and each game comes with a new song and also there is a game over music and you pass music with also the main menu music. The songs are themed with the word search and are linked with the part of the game and there are an original version and the in-game alternative version which was meant to be shorter but they are actually quite long. I wanted them shorter to fit with the game time length but I forgot and made full versions but it doesn’t matter and anyway, I can never make short songs they are from a span of six to twelve minutes some longer than that. I made all the stuff in the game myself and that is what I enjoy doing the most and of course making the music which is my second favourite thing to do but it’s pretty fun making backgrounds, buttons and other stuff I really like getting stuck in and all hands on deck kind of projects it keeps me busy lol. The first track Festive Word Searches is the main theme and is the main menu music in the game. I like the bells and the bass pattern sounds like something you could lounge to and just hang loose. I added bells throughout the track to make it Christmasy and I like the pattern to it makes it feel like a Christmas song or something you could have on around Christmas and also winter as it also feels like a winter song and you are in a snowy field with wild animals running around you. The next track Festive Word Searches – Alternative Version is the in-game version and the alternative to the first original track which like all the alternative versions I rearranged into something a little different removing parts and rearranging the patterns into the alternative version. For the next track What A Saint I used chiors from Omnisphere and the bass from the Mini by Arturia. It’s one of my favourites on the album as I like the swing to it it makes you bop your head and reminds me of 80s Hip Hop Boogaloo music well the bass does. I also like the synths that go throughout it and I think makes the track into something. The next track What A Saint – Alternative Version is the Alternative to the original version with also the same name and is part of the in-game music and is part of the first word search the St Nicholas word search. The next track is Saint’s Sack. I like this one and just like the feel to it it sounds like something you would have for game over music or instructions videos it is also something you could have for a segment for TV or have on in the background for background music. The next track Saint’s Sack – Alternative Version is the alternative version to the original track with also the same name and is part of the in-game music. Like the others, I rearranged it to something different swapping things back to front and taking bits out and replacing them with something new. The next track Noughty Naughty is another favourite on the album as I like the claps and the un-even bass. I like the choir synth sound too the claps come from the Roland 808 which I think partly makes the song into something and is one to chill to at home or wherever. The next track Noughty Naughty – Alternative Version is the alternative version to the original track also with the same name and is part of the in-game music. The next track Drag U To Hell is a dark and dingy track since Krampus isn’t that much of a nice person and drags the naughty kids to hell and even drowns them which I think is quite festive lol that was a joke. I used one of my own plugins for this song and I think it was the Dungeon VST Plugin which I made a year ago now and never used it so I thought I give it a quick whisk. The next track Drag U To Hell – Alternative Version is the alternative version to the original also with the same name and is part of the Krampus in-game word search. The next track Chains is another dark and dingy track. I like the bass and the dark synths which again I found in the Dungeon VST plugin I made and can be found on my other website gasnolight.co.uk It’s a favourite on the album as I like the bass and the synths on top it makes it sound creepy but nice and something you could be dragged to hell with. The next track Chains – Alternative Version is part of the Krampus You Lose music and is the alternative version to the original with also the same name. The next track Spared For Another Year is another dark and dingy song for the Krampus collection of tracks. I like the bass to this one and the other synths make it dark and dingy which I think goes with the hell theme in that part of the game. The next track Spared For Another Year – Alternative Version is the in-game version of the Krampus you win music and is the alternative version to the original track also with the same name. It’s another favourite on the album as again I like the dark and dingy feel to it and the rhythms of the track. The next track Christmas Gathering is a Christmas song which I like a lot. I like the bells and the other stuff also I like the sine bass which I think was part of the Mini from the V Collection by Artuia or it may have been from Omnisphere which I used quite a lot in this project. The next track Christmas Gathering – Alternative Version is the alternative version to the original also with the same name and is part of the in-game music for the Christmas word search. The next track Deer In The Snow is a snowy feel track that reminds me of being in the snow and coming across some wild deer so I called it that. It’s definitely icy and one to have on while it’s snowing and you are indoors or outdoors making snowmen.  The next track Deer In The Snow – Alternative Version is the in-game version for the Christmas word search and is the alternative version to the original also with the same name. The next song Christmas Goodluck is another favourite on the album as I like the bells and the claps I like to put claps in my tracks now and then for difference and also I love putting them in my tracks. I also like the bass which I found in Omnsiphere which I think makes it into a bit of a funky track. The last track Christmas Goodluck – Alternative Version is the alternative version to the original track also with the same name and is part of the you win music for the Christmas word search.

New Album Release; Elf Quest

25/11/2024 - New Album Release; Elf Quest

It’s the start of Christmas so why not get the Christmas gaming music on? This ten-track album is from the platform game I made also called Elf Quest and all tracks are featured in the game in the same order. I haven’t made that many platform games so I thought I’d make one but make it a Christmas game so I have a game released within Christmas with the music to accompany it and I also haven’t made any gaming music for a while for my other artists name Game For Experimentation so I ticked all the boxes for fulfilment. I used my 8-bit drum kit for drums and an 8-bit synth plugin which I like using a lot in my gaming stuff and to play the melodies I used my MIDI keyboard.  I enjoyed putting the songs together and I liked coming up with new melodies and seeing what sounds are on the plugin which I used on all the songs. I wanted to get that 8-bit feel so I also converted it into 8-bit for that final sound and to give it that authentic sound and finish to it. The first track No Christmas This Christmas is an upbeat track with a pumping bass and melodic synthy sounds. I like the drive to this one and I think is danceable and reminds me of old gaming music. I also like the Christmas bells which I converted into 8-bit for that authentic sound. I like the arp bass to this one and kind of overpowers it but I am more or less happy with it and the way it sounds, not one to blast loud on the speakers though.  The next track Elf Chuckle is another upbeat track with more Christmas bells which I like quite a lot and think suits it quite well. I was looking for a way to add Christmas to the Chiptune gaming sound as it’s Chiptune not much Christmas vibes going on so I decided to add Christmas bells. It’s one of my favourites on the album as I like the bass over the synths and Christmas bells which again I converted into 8-Bits for that authentic sound. It’s kind of like a walk in the park just strolling track and reminds me of walking down the street. The next track Santa’s Plea is a relaxing gaming track for difference and to calm it down in the game music and within the game. I like the bass to this one which is a sharp bass and one of my favourites to play. I also like the synthy sounds over the bass which I think goes well with the track. It’s another favourite on the album and is one to relax while reading or whatever you do on and offline.  The next track Krampus is another one I like on the album and is a dark slow but melodic track again for difference. I like the synthy stuff going on in the background and I also like the sine bass which makes it even more calm and soothing. I added choir voices using Omnishpere and used basses from my V Collection by Arturia. I would say this is one of my overall favourites on the album as I like the soothingness of it and the melodic synths which again I think goes quite well with the Krampus mysterious dark theme. The next track Xmas Fears is another soothing calm instrumental that is good to have on in the background if you are just chilling. Once again I like the bass and the synthy stuff over the bass which works well with the beat and more choir sounds and a dark bass for the fear part. I would say this is another one I like quite a lot and I’m pleased with how it came out. The next track Hobot Takeover is another calm soothing beat with a sine soothing bass to accompany it. I would say this is another overall favourite and I like the piano keys with all the other stuff added on top to make the beat stand out and to shine more. There are more choir sounds from Omnisphere to give it that Christmasy feel to it and some ambience for the chorus which I like a lot. The next track Grotty Grotto is an upbeat track that is dark and grotty like it says on the tin. I quite like this one as well and is another one of my overall favourites as I like the synthy stuff on top of the deep bass which rumbles throughout the track. I like the keys and pad I used on this one and again I think it goes well with the track and is all that I hoped it to be for a gaming album and to feature in the game itself. The next track Krampus – Alternative Version is the alternative version to the original also called Krampus. The track is an upbeat number and melodic for the difference from the first track I made it more happy and uplifting which I like quite a lot. I like the synths to this one and the sine bass which mellows it out a lot but is still an upbeat track. Once again I seem to like this one quite a lot and is one of my favourites on the album as I like the quick melodic sounds to it and I like the drumming to which I’m happy with all my drumming on this album. The next track Grotty Grotto – Alternative Version is the alternative version to the original track also called Grotty Grotto. The track is another upbeat track which I like quite a lot. I like the drumming over the bass and synths on this one and this one is my overall overall favourite on the album as I like the bass and dark and dingy feel to it which goes with the title of the track. I changed it slightly for variation and changed the sounds keeping some of the sounds so it was the same but different. The last track Santa’s Plea – Alternative Version is the alternative to the original track with the same title Santa’s Plea. It’s another upbeat track and I thought a great song to end the album with something dancy and pumping. I like the melodic synthy stuff over the deep bass which once again is a sine and something I found in the V Collection. I would say this is a Dance track and something to dance to or have loud but I think it sounds better at a normal volume as it is quite a loud and in-your-face kind of track.

New EP Release; Bloody Duckery

25/08/2024 - New EP Release; Bloody Duckery

I haven’t made a game for a while so I thought I’d do one and this one is a platform game where you have to get to the end of the level without dying and of course there are enemies and traps along the way to make it more of a challenge. I made the sprites the characters and backgrounds and also the buttons I made all of the stuff which I replaced from a template I found online, oh yeah and the music which is what this EP is from, and there are ten levels. There is a story behind the game and why I called it Bloody Duckery. When I was young I had this rubber ducky and obviously I used to have it in my bath time and that bit comes in shortly but I did a séance and I was messing about and I used the rubber ducky as part of the séance who we, me and a couple others called up Bloody Mary. A week passes and I’m messing about with the rubber ducky in the bath and I give it a few dips in the water nothing happens just yet but basically I noticed every time I dipped the rubber ducky in the water there would be some sort of curse and every time I didn’t do it nothing would happen. I finally after a month or two of bad curses I burnt the thing on a open fire and it turned purple then all glittery. I thought the soul come out and I checked my mirror in the bathroom for any other changes but nothing happened so I breathed a sigh of relief knowing it was over. I’m not really that superstitious or believe in ghosts or calling up the dead but there were some strange things happening oh yeah and the lights cut out all after the séance with the rubber ducky and I didn’t really think it would become possessed. The story behind the game is Bloody Mary posses a rubber ducky and has to fight evil to get the exorcism from the priest. The first song Bloody Duckery – Main Theme is a upbeat but dark track with sound FXs of a duck added on it now it would of been in 8 bit but I forgot to add that on so it’s the HD quacks. It’s the main theme to the game and is on the main menu. Like all the tracks on this EP I used my 8 Bit Synth which I use quite a lot in my gaming works and used it quite a few times now. The next track is the main theme alternative version which I said I was going to make some alternative versions of my songs as I enjoy making them quite a lot. I like this one a lot better and think it’s a catchy but another dark theme to it as it is Bloody Mary so nothing pretty about that. It has more duck samples which I changed slightly. I would say this is one of my favourites on the EP or short album but I call it a EP as back in the 2000s EPs had five tracks anyway it is what it is. The next track Sink Or Swim is a upbeat stroll down the gaming street kind of track. It is also a Electro Funk track and I forgot to mention I used 8 bit drums to give it that drum feel to the tracks and any 8 bit drums are good though. It’s a good track to stick on any level but I thought I’d have this in the main game and part of the main feature of the game. The next track is the alternative version to Sink Or Swim and again I prefer this version to the orginial but I do like both but I think this one is the better version. I changed it here and there making way for new instruments and changing the drums as well. I put this also in the level and there are three songs in the game before it repeats hopefully but you would probably die before then. The last track For Duck Sakes is a easy going but another dark theme song. I like this one and think it’s alright but probably not a favourite but I would put it close to it. It has more duck samples which I found on Pixabay my go to place to get free FXs and other bits and bobs that are quite useful in my projects.  I used a lot of delay on this one as well which I like to do a lot.

New Album Release; Synthscape; Remember 2 Forget

16/08/2024 - New Album Release; Synthscape; Remember 2 Forget

I’m back with another Synthscape which is noise with synths, drums and FXs over the noise which I mangled using Audacity a handy free audio editor but I like to use Wave Pad as well by NCH which is a paid version that is cheap and worth it. The Synthscape is like a Soundscape which is usually a long audio clip of noise and sounds evolving over time and this is like that. I enjoy making mini-songs which is what this is made up of and are 12 bits that change every now and then with something new and hopefully interesting. I thought I’d make some more as I haven’t done that many and someone mentioned how rare it was so I thought I’d do some more since like always I enjoy making them even though the last half hour is a bit tense but I get by somehow. As always you can find the hour-long audio file on my Soundcloud and also I made a visual for YouTube which is also the hour-long version and the version that isn’t cut up into songs, I would have had it one hour-long file but the rules are so stren but that can be found on my YouTube channel or alternatively you can check it all out on this website under Music Creations in the G.F.E. Hub in the main menu. It’s great to sit down and make something new and something that does get tiring making which is why I don’t do the same thing when I do make music even then I do believe in taking breaks and coming back fresh and with another new angle. But I enjoy making this the most as it’s experimental and I love experimenting with sound and noise and seeing what I can make of it, I do amaze myself since I don’t go in with expectations well I do and I don’t but there’s a tip for you making music if you know how to just go blind but still have something in your head. It’s a good excuse and chance to get creative and make something a bit kooky in sound. I called it remember 2 forget as I think some stuff is left forgotten and in the past, as I can’t keep holding on to bad memories and bad nights, holding grudges is also not cool something I don’t tend to do actually but I have done for good reason. The fact is remember 2 forget is yet another reminder to me and anyone else listening to let it go it’s not worth holding onto and you will feel silly and stupid in the end not a good look. As always I used my trusted MIDI keyboard and plugins from the V Collection if you don’t know by now one of my favourite VST plugins to go to when making Synthwave, general synthy vibes and these Synthscapes which I’m on my fourth one now so time to slow down a little. I don’t plan on making lots of them every now and then when I feel like it will I do one but I haven’t got a number I will stop at I don’t even know how many I will do in total. I also enjoyed coming up with say anonymous titles and something I like doing the most actually it kind of fits with the song and are kind of funny or some of them are. I like the drums I made which I used the Roland 606, 808 and 909s which I got from the Mars Sample pack at a ridiculous price it was something like 1 Pound which is nearly 2 dollars. I’m so happy I bought it as I use it in all the stuff I make and is my number one go-to for drums as it’s got all the drums you would need to make your next drum pattern. I was lucky to make a replica of the sound byte I used and did it by putting it in Audacity the free audio editing program and changing the Hertz to 8000 and saving it for an ambient background noise with little jingles every now and then. The first one I did was from a mix that went wrong but I managed to clone the sound for some more Synthscapes using old mixes I recorded. I found Audacity was the only software that would change the Hertz and the sound while the others changed the sound into 8 bits which is grainy and hard to hear the overall details of the track.

New Album Release; One Man Band

31/07/2024 - New Album Release; One Man Band

As you might know by now I like to experiment with music and make different stuff and it’s been a while since I made an experimental album so I thought I’d make one with different instruments which I found all on Pixabay sounds which is my free and my go-to place for free royalty free sounds. I used various instruments like a trumpet, a triangle, a violin, a flute and many other instruments which I got into in a minute. They are longer than what I usually make but it does have a lot of variation and other things added in each song so it’s not repetitive. I really enjoyed making this album and liked the way each track came out but isn’t the most traditional experimental album but I did experiment a lot with different FXs and other stuff. I titled all the songs after the instrument I was using and called it One Man Band as it is what I would describe myself since I do everything myself including the promoting which is the hardest bit but is easier with the mailing list. The basses and other stuff I got from either Splice.com or Loopmasters and the drums are from the Mars Drum Pack which features all the main drum sets from Roland 606, 707, 808, 909, and all the others like the Lin Drum and many more drum sets used in commercial hits of the time. The first track Blew Horn is one of my top favourites of the lot as I like the Trumpet I used and other stuff which I used an 808 bass drum and a filtered trumpet with me making all the sounds or at least nearly all of them with the trumpet loop which goes for the others too. I used two basses for this one and I distorted the trumpet even more and added delay and other FXs including the filter which I think was from the Artuia FXs pack which I like quite a lot and use on all my stuff and I tried most of the products which were either all the same or it was bad. I also like the Soundtoy FXs collection too which also has filters and all the FXs expected in a collection like Reverb, Delay, Filters, Distortion and Compression, I used it on some of the tracks on this album. The next track Pulling On The Heart Strings is another favourite of mine on the album and I used a guitar loop for this one and again I cut up the loop and added reverb, delay and filters and probably some other stuff I haven’t mentioned. I like the melodic guitar over the bass and beat I think it really goes well together and reminds me of being somewhere hot and in the country of a foreign land. I think it’s because I saw this video once it was a man singing in African and with his guitar he was from Africa anyway it reminded me of that a bit. The next track Love Triangle is yet another personal favourite of mine on the album and I used a triangle which again I used filters to change the tone of it and turn it into something new. It reminds me of 80s Boogie and something you could do the robot to I reckon. I like the feel of it and think it’s a danceable track and something you could listen to on an 80s playlist. I thought it wasn’t that experimental so I thought I’d add some weird noise in the chorus which are sounds I recorded from a trip to Cornwall and was at an amusement park I believe. The next track The Pipers Call is another overall favourite and was made with a Dizi Flute or a Chinese Flute loop which I cut up and added filters and other stuff on the cut-up loop. I think it’s such a vibrant track and the Dizi flute is one of my favourite instruments to listen to and to use in my own tracks which I haven’t actually used a Dizi Flute in any of my tracks yet and is the first one but won’t be the last I bet. The next track Tickle The Ivory is yet another favourite on the album and was used with a Piano loop. It’s a nice relaxing just chilling sunny day or hot night track and again I used filters and other FXs to change the loop slightly and I love the melodic loop which I think the filters on the main bit and the chorus add to the track and makes it enjoyable. The next track No Strings attached was used with a Violin loop which again I used filters and other FXs to change the loop a bit and make something new out of it. It’s the most experimental track on the album and has a dark and dingy feel to it like you are falling backwards in a trance state or something like that. The next track Keeping Tabs was made with a Tabla and another favourite on the album I think it’s catchy and upbeat with the stuff I did with the Tabla which once again more filters and other FXs added on to the Tabla loop for difference. The next track Hendrix Star was used with an Electric Guitar and is another upbeat jolly song that I quite like. It reminds me of an 80s track halfway through an album you would enjoy maybe it’s something similar to something that has come before I don’t know but it reminds me of an 80s track for sure. The next track 3,2,1 I’m Gong was used with you guessed it a Gong which I used filters and other FXs like delay to make it sound different to the original loop I got on Pixabay. The last track Sansa Mi Sensi was made with a Kalimba and sounds quite a lot like it should have been the Hendrix Star track. I used filters and other FXs for the difference.

New EP Release; The Fate Of Osiris

10/05/2024 - New EP Release; The Fate Of Osiris

I made another game hosted on my website it’s a Brick Break type game with an Egyptian theme to it’s quite naturally I made some music to go with the game. As always I got the template online and made my own stuff like the breaks and customising the ball and of course the buttons and backgrounds. The music is African world music or Cinematic gaming music and something a bit different to what I usually make but I like to make all sorts of music which is why I have two artists’ names my main artist name Gas No Light and my other artist name Game For Experimental which is where all my gaming and experimental stuff goes to and is where this EP is hosted under. I love Egyptian stuff and was quite obsessed with the history when I was younger but still my favourite part of history and I am still fascinated by it all which is why I made this game an Egyptian theme game. The idea behind the game is you are in a tomb and you just set off a trap and you are now fighting for your life by playing a trial from the god Osiris. Osiris is the god of fertility and the god of death and has two roles. According to Egyptian Mytology Osiris was a king of Egypt who was murdered and dismembered by his brother Seth. In Genesis 10:8-12; 11:1-9 Nimrod, known in Egypt as Osiris, was the founder of the first world empire at Babel, later known as Babylon. Jesus and Osiris are both gods who live as humans. Osiris was depicted as a king of Egypt whose body floated down a river in a coffin. As Ancient Egypt Online says, “The oldest religious texts known to us refer to him [Osiris] as the great god of the dead, who once possessed human form and lived upon earth. The ostrich is one of the animals associated with Osiris. The ostrich in Egyptian culture means justice and veracity, which are ideas associated with the Egyptian god. In one version of the myth, Isis used a spell to briefly revive Osiris so he could impregnate her. After embalming and burying Osiris, Isis conceived and gave birth to their son, Horus. Thereafter Osiris lived on as the god of the underworld. The first track Fate is a cheerful fluty number with dramatic drums and flutes and has an African but Latin feel to it. I found the flute samples from Splice.com and went for the dramatic and calm flute sounds which I put a bit of reverb on to make it more spacious and full. I imagine some ferrous sword fighting going on whilst the band plays out the scene. Or in a tomb and you are going through the tomb exploring the dangerous traps and not getting your ass in a tangle lol. I like the ending adding more dramatics as the game gets more harder and harder or the sword fighting gets more close calls and near misses and whilst they fight for their lives. The next track Fate (Mellow Vibe Mix) is the slowdown version of the first track which features in the main game as the background music. I imagine riding camels in the desert with this one or being in a bustling market. I did rearrange it a little bit adding some more drums which are at the end of the track also I changed it slightly at the start though it sounds the same. I used ethnic sounds from Africa and did some research on old instruments they may have had and I used them like the Flute, Sistum and Lyre. The next track Fatal is another soothing flute number with African drums and percussion added in there too. This acts as my game over music which is why it’s got the sad flute feeling with the dramatic drums which I like quite a lot. I’m quite happy with it well I’m quite happy with all of them but I think it feels like game over music for something like this  I mean an Egyption-themed game or for a puzzle game which I think would work too. The last track To Live Another Day is another jolly fluty number which acts as my you win music and is my favourite on the EP though I quite like the first track also. I made it so it sounds like a battle has been won and the party commencing and that is why I called it to Live Another Day which sounds like or is a Bond Soundtrack song I’m not sure.

New Album Release; Sin Bun Run

18/01/2024 - New Album; Sin Bun Run

Other than making music I like to make games especially retro-like games the older the better but I like current games as well and made a few now. This is the music from the retro platform game I made called Sin Bun Run and was inspired by a mascot I saw whilst on holiday in Cornwall but it looked evil and a bit sinister which later gave me a good character for a game. The game has seven levels and they are all hard and pretty long it was actually a nightmare to finish the level both playing and making but each level is a new world or scene. I made all the stuff in the game apart from the backgrounds and I opted to find free backgrounds that would be better than what I had in mind which was a real-life picture but it wouldn’t have gone with the retro theme I had in mind and was making.  It’s quite a long album with thirty-six tracks that had six tracks on each level as I thought it would be annoying if you heard the same three tracks over so I went for six which I thought was a good number in the end and the best players won’t even get to the sixth track hopefully. I wasn’t going  to release the album as a major release and I was going to keep it unreleased but since I got my other name which is this name Game For Experimentation I thought it be perfect to have it on all the major platforms under that name. I should point out the mascot I saw on holiday was a pink rabbit and actually, it was a female rabbit. I didn’t see the gender of it at first until I read it on the Park Dean website which is the holiday camp I stayed at and saw the mascot to. All the music on this album are from my gaming synths and specialize in making Chiptune and 8 Bit music which reminds me the 8 Bit version of this album can be found on my paid Bandcamp page where I changed the settings to get the 8-Bit feel. This version on all the major platforms is 24 Bit and had to be, to be released or I would have released it as an 8 Bit album to get the proper feel of it but feel free to change it to taste. All you need is the free software Audacity to change  Bit or go to my paid Bandcamp page where it’s up and the only place to get the 8 Bit version.  I don’t have a favourite on the album I like them all and think they are all different feels. I tried to fit the feel of the level, for example, cave music or woodland music but all in Chiptune and 8 Bit music form. I also tried to think back to what old school Chiptune and 8 Bit music sounded like and tried to match it a little with all the drums and synths patterns I made using a drum sequencer and my keyboard to play the melodies. If you want to try the game Sin Bun Run it can be found in the Arcade section of this site under Gaming Lounge or the link which I’ll leave at the bottom of this page if you feel like killing a few hours and jumping around franticly you might enjoy it.

New Album Release; The Gaming Soundtrack I

5/01/2024 - New Album; The Gaming Soundtrack I

When I’m not making music I like to make stuff from my computer and put on the internet and making games is one of them. I love to design and is something I specialize in though I used to be better at coding in the 2000s when coding was easier and less things to remember but I lost my way so I look for non coding software and online apps like Construct 3 which is what I build the games with. I say build I also like to get templates of games and do all the designing myself like the sprites which is the main characters, enemies, weapons and devices and contraptions, the buttons, the backgrounds everything you see in the games basically it all gets changed and made by me. I made a few games now around under 20 and vary from space shooters, Pacman, a memory game, a Christmas poker game, Gin Rummy the card game, Solitaire the card game,  Ping Pong the retro version, a zombie shooting game, Tetris which is in weed form, A Halloween version of Candy Crush, a trading card game, and a space invaders game. They all can be found in the Gaming Lounge section on this site in the main menu under Arcade they are all there and ready to play if you want something to do. They are mostly old styled games which I enjoy making more but I did enjoy putting Hallow Crush together which is a Candy Crush alternative game but same rules and principals  and a new style game compared to say Pac Man but I could be wrong.  Now I think about it Candy Crush is similar to the game Bubble where you shoot bubbles in the right space to match the colours and stop the balls from overlapping the top. I used to love that game and is why I was hooked to that witch bubble game on Facebook last decade now when it was very popular, I advanced pretty far with the rebound trick I used to do for those difficult positions. Making games for my website and other platforms meant making music to go with it as games equals music so I made tracks for each game sometime more than one track per game but I didn’t put everything on the album just the ones that were A, long enough and wasn’t just a 30-second loop and B, the actual songs not just background noise to help concertation or get in the game. As the games are diverse and vary, so are the tracks on this album which are both Cinematic and Chiptune tracks combined on one album and are electronic, Hip Hop, and other genres which I made based on the game I was making at the time. I like to make retro games and music and I have a couple of synths that make gaming genres like my 8 Bit synth plugin and another one I can’t remember the names of them but they are good though and tend to make good old-fashioned gaming music. I used it in a few tracks on this album and is on Wolkman (Main Theme), Astro Dog (Main Theme), Inferior, and Robot Invaders. Those are the older retro songs from the retro games I made and the rest is cinematic or upbeat Hip Hop like on Weedtris (Alternative Version) where I used Hip Hop drum kits to make it sound more like Hip Hop. I like all the tracks on this album but my overall favorites are Solitude, Weedtris (Alternative Version), The Christmas Trade, Astro Dog, Inferior, North Pole, Wolkman (Main Theme), North Pole, Pong,  Betting On It, Hallow Crush and the last track Toyz Alive.

New Album Release; Synthscape – It’s Christmas Again

5/01/2024 - New Album; Synthscape - It's Christmas Again

The last synthscape for now and it was made near Christmas on the 21st of December 2023 to be exact. It’s been a while since I made a synthscape and I made it the same way I made the others through a mangled mix which was a Christmas mix I made from my own music I made in the past and as always lots of drums and synth sounds in a melodic and space boy fashion lol. It was going to be a Krampus special but I thought I’d make some alternative Christmas music that didn’t scream Christmas even though it does have some dashes of Christmas in but has the mangled effect on it which doesn’t make it seem that Christmasy. As always I used my trusted AKIA keyboard to play the sounds and the same hard-hitting drum kits to make it stand out more so you can hear the drum pattern over the synths and background noise. Also like the other Synthscapes, it has Hip Hop drum patterns over the synths and background noise. I think Hip Hop drum patterns are diverse and can be used for other genres and it would sound new and nothing like Hip Hop at all. I love my Hip Hop and at one point was all that I played from Kriss1, Mos Def, Notorious B.I.G, Tupac, Busta Rhymes, and all the females that passed through and also underground Hip Hop which at one point I was obsessed with. It actually inspired me to up my drum skills by adapting underground Hip Hop drum patterns with mostly synths stuff which I think works well and you get a synthy urban feel to the tracks. Even though there is a lot of synth sounds on the album I would still class it as Experimental music as, as always it was one big experiment to see what I could make out of the mangled mix and all the plugins and drum kits I have which are one shots (one hit sounds) that is now a main feature of the series and enjoy mangling one of my mixes I made from my music and see what I can mold around it. I called it It’s Christmas Again as how quickly time goes probably by the end of me typing this up we will be welcoming the New Year in and it will be 2025. Okay not really but it does fly by and the seasons change quickly I think the earth is spinning faster or something or as an adult it seems like it’s spinning faster. As always I say for the best listening experience please listen to it once through from start to end that way you can get the full view of the album or Synthscape which was an hour-long file and I cut it into sections and gave them names. It would have been an hour-long uninterrupted mix down but you can’t upload large file sizes or have long length mix downs so I cut it up and gave them names to get it out there or it would still be on Bandcamp as an hour-long mix-down which I think isn’t good enough but a start for anyone who is on there and willing to pay for their music and for something different. As always I have no favorite tracks on this Synthscape as I like it as a whole but I will say some bits are more interesting than some other bits and took a lot of work to make but is always fun. This one is a bit longer than the others and has more tracks as most of them are pretty short compared to what length I usually go for maybe 6 to 9 minutes anything after 10 minutes is long to me and not made for everyone’s cup of tea in the length front but I make longer tracks all the same. Some are shorter as I ran out of inspiration quickly for that part so I moved it on to the next bit which brings fresh ideas and new everything some of the drum kits and patterns are reused a few times but not too many times, I have done that on all the Synthscapes so far. It’s so I don’t get confused on new and old drums and to keep the CPU down even though by the end of it it’s through the roof due to too many open synth plugins but you can add enough to make an hour-long Synthscape or Soundscape without it glitching, shutting down or freezing on you and I’m using a Desktop version instead of a laptop which does make it better. There was a slight boo-boo on the album the track Blimey Are You Deaf (Hard Of Hearing) came out too distorted and a bit aggressive and loud and there was no way of removing it but I liked it in a way so I left it on there and let you decide if you liked it or not.

New Album Release; Synthscape – No Suppression

5/01/2024 - New Album; Synthscape - No Suppression

Another synthscape is a combination of background noise from a mix I mangled using Audicity and lots of synthesizer sounds and drums. This is the second synthscape I made and was an hour-long file but I had to cut them down to single tracks and title them all which was the fun but hard bit. It is best if you play this album from the start to end to get the full view of it and is me messing about and experimenting with synth sounds and drums with the mangled mix. I used my trusted AKIA keyboard to play the notes and all the drum kits I could find from genres like Hip Hop and House music for those fat kicks and rattle hi-hats and hats. I did the drums manually as I haven’t got a committed device but I saw the AKIA being used as a drum machine so it is possible. Anyway, it is easier to put them in unless you have something to go by like something in your head you can tap out. Like the last one, I used all the synths under the sun including the same collections the V Collection by Artuia and the Korg Collection by Korg. They are my favourite and I tend to use a lot of the two as there are lots of synths to choose from and also lots of sounds in each synth plugin which is hit and miss but they are real synth sounds and modelled on old original synthesizer hardware. Like, for example, the Arturia stuff is modelled on synths like the Moog, the Prophet, and the DX7 all the old hardware from the 70s and up, and covers all the classic synthesizers and keyboards of the time, mostly the 70s and 80s. The Korg Collection has all the favourite synths and keyboards like the M1 which is the most famous and used in rave categories like House, Jungle/Drum and Bass, Techno, and other rave genres. But also it has some genuine synth sounds made for genres like Synthwave, Vapourwave, and synth music in general but so does the V Collection to be honest which is why I use them both quite a lot and can’t live without them or should I say play without them, at least one of the two. I haven’t got a favourite bit as I like each track as again I think they all sound unique and different from the last one but I do like the darker tracks on this one like the one with the bongos which I do use quite a lot in these synth-scapes as I think it makes it sound even better or at least sounding good even though they are a bit of a trip to put together and take a whole day, a day and a bit with the YouTube video versions which can be found on my other YouTube channel Game For Experimentation. But even though it takes a while I still enjoy making them and also making the visuals to accompany the music. I love to play the keyboard and freestyle which is what I do a lot in all the music I make but playing the keyboard and seeing what you come up with is always fun and stops me from getting bored. The only trouble is you have to be in the mood or you won’t enjoy it and the knock-on effect of that is the music not coming out as hoped or to your listener’s satisfaction or even your own which counts more I think like I put music I like and hope people will like as well.
