ELF QUEST COVER

New Album Release; Elf Quest

25/11/2024 - New Album Release; Elf Quest

It’s the start of Christmas so why not get the Christmas gaming music on? This ten-track album is from the platform game I made also called Elf Quest and all tracks are featured in the game in the same order. I haven’t made that many platform games so I thought I’d make one but make it a Christmas game so I have a game released within Christmas with the music to accompany it and I also haven’t made any gaming music for a while for my other artists name Game For Experimentation so I ticked all the boxes for fulfilment. I used my 8-bit drum kit for drums and an 8-bit synth plugin which I like using a lot in my gaming stuff and to play the melodies I used my MIDI keyboard.  I enjoyed putting the songs together and I liked coming up with new melodies and seeing what sounds are on the plugin which I used on all the songs. I wanted to get that 8-bit feel so I also converted it into 8-bit for that final sound and to give it that authentic sound and finish to it. The first track No Christmas This Christmas is an upbeat track with a pumping bass and melodic synthy sounds. I like the drive to this one and I think is danceable and reminds me of old gaming music. I also like the Christmas bells which I converted into 8-bit for that authentic sound. I like the arp bass to this one and kind of overpowers it but I am more or less happy with it and the way it sounds, not one to blast loud on the speakers though.  The next track Elf Chuckle is another upbeat track with more Christmas bells which I like quite a lot and think suits it quite well. I was looking for a way to add Christmas to the Chiptune gaming sound as it’s Chiptune not much Christmas vibes going on so I decided to add Christmas bells. It’s one of my favourites on the album as I like the bass over the synths and Christmas bells which again I converted into 8-Bits for that authentic sound. It’s kind of like a walk in the park just strolling track and reminds me of walking down the street. The next track Santa’s Plea is a relaxing gaming track for difference and to calm it down in the game music and within the game. I like the bass to this one which is a sharp bass and one of my favourites to play. I also like the synthy sounds over the bass which I think goes well with the track. It’s another favourite on the album and is one to relax while reading or whatever you do on and offline.  The next track Krampus is another one I like on the album and is a dark slow but melodic track again for difference. I like the synthy stuff going on in the background and I also like the sine bass which makes it even more calm and soothing. I added choir voices using Omnishpere and used basses from my V Collection by Arturia. I would say this is one of my overall favourites on the album as I like the soothingness of it and the melodic synths which again I think goes quite well with the Krampus mysterious dark theme. The next track Xmas Fears is another soothing calm instrumental that is good to have on in the background if you are just chilling. Once again I like the bass and the synthy stuff over the bass which works well with the beat and more choir sounds and a dark bass for the fear part. I would say this is another one I like quite a lot and I’m pleased with how it came out. The next track Hobot Takeover is another calm soothing beat with a sine soothing bass to accompany it. I would say this is another overall favourite and I like the piano keys with all the other stuff added on top to make the beat stand out and to shine more. There are more choir sounds from Omnisphere to give it that Christmasy feel to it and some ambience for the chorus which I like a lot. The next track Grotty Grotto is an upbeat track that is dark and grotty like it says on the tin. I quite like this one as well and is another one of my overall favourites as I like the synthy stuff on top of the deep bass which rumbles throughout the track. I like the keys and pad I used on this one and again I think it goes well with the track and is all that I hoped it to be for a gaming album and to feature in the game itself. The next track Krampus – Alternative Version is the alternative version to the original also called Krampus. The track is an upbeat number and melodic for the difference from the first track I made it more happy and uplifting which I like quite a lot. I like the synths to this one and the sine bass which mellows it out a lot but is still an upbeat track. Once again I seem to like this one quite a lot and is one of my favourites on the album as I like the quick melodic sounds to it and I like the drumming to which I’m happy with all my drumming on this album. The next track Grotty Grotto – Alternative Version is the alternative version to the original track also called Grotty Grotto. The track is another upbeat track which I like quite a lot. I like the drumming over the bass and synths on this one and this one is my overall overall favourite on the album as I like the bass and dark and dingy feel to it which goes with the title of the track. I changed it slightly for variation and changed the sounds keeping some of the sounds so it was the same but different. The last track Santa’s Plea – Alternative Version is the alternative to the original track with the same title Santa’s Plea. It’s another upbeat track and I thought a great song to end the album with something dancy and pumping. I like the melodic synthy stuff over the deep bass which once again is a sine and something I found in the V Collection. I would say this is a Dance track and something to dance to or have loud but I think it sounds better at a normal volume as it is quite a loud and in-your-face kind of track.
